A little boy was at the beach one day standing at the shoreline picking up starfish and throwing them into the ocean. A man walked up to him and asked, "What are you doing, son?" The little boy answered, "It's low tide and the sun is so hot. If I don't get them back into the water, they will shrivel up and die." The man pointe down the beach and stated, "Look at that, there are hundreds if not thousands of starfish. You can't believe you can actually save them all?!" The little boy stopped and looked at all the stranded starfish on the beach that day. Quietly, he bent down, picked up another starfish and turned to the man. "Maybe not," he stated, "but I can make a difference for this one." The boy threw the starfish into the sea and kept going.
For over 10 years now I've had the opportunity to work with some of the most remarkable children and families this side of the Mississippi in some of the most deplorable situations.
Within the last 3-4 years, however, I've been blessed with career opportunities that have allowed me to become more and more involved with the most vulnerable members of society: men, women and children. All while working with the most dedicated, passionate, and extraordinary professionals one could ever meet.
For those of you that have asked me what OUR stands for on my shirts or stickers or whatever.....this is it. This is what they do. What we do. OUR is one of many non-profit organizations that are fighting to end human trafficking over seas and in our own backyards. So many people have told me so many times, "I could never do what you do." Ex-Army, Ex-Navy, Ex-K9 Officers, Ex-Homicide detectives, Current law enforcement, current military, etc. It is not an easy job that I, or my colleagues, have right now. This......this is the kind of difference I want to make. It's where my heart is and where I want to eventually end up, fighting this fight.Ending Human Trafficking around the world.
If you can't stomach the thought of seeing children abused, neglected, abandoned and exploited...............then support those who do. Every. Single. Day.
This is a great non-profit organization as are your local Child Advocacy Centers working to combat this in your specific county. So I'd like to see how many of my own friends and family actually care enough to watch a 3 minute video and donate whatever they can (or at least share the link) to one of the best causes.......... no............. best forces that the world doesn't even know it needs.
Be the first to donate!
